This game is about playing one small part in a much larger story. You only live an hour, but time and space in this game is infinite. You can only do so much in one lifetime, but the tech tree in this game will take hundreds of generations to fully explore. This game is also about family trees. Having a mother who takes care of you as a baby, and hopefully taking care of a baby yourself later in life. And your mother is another player. And your baby is another player. Building something to use in your lifetime, but inevitably realizing that, in the end, what you build is not for YOU, but for your children and all the countless others that will come after you. Proudly using your grandfather's ax, and then passing it on to your own grandchild as the end of your life nears. And looking at each life as a unique story. I was this kid born in this situation, but I eventually grew up. I built a bakery near the wheat fields. Over time, I watched my grandparents and parents grow old and die. I had some kids of my own along the way, but they are grown now... and look at my character now! She's an old woman. What a life passed by in this little hour of mine. After I die, this life will be over and gone forever. I can be born again, but I can never live this unique story again. Everything's changing. I'll be born as a different person in a different place and different time, with another unique story to experience in the next hour...

OHOL is a great game, I love seeing how things work. It's always fun to make things, especially if your a pie baker. Sometimes there is drama and awesome incidents that happen. I'm not good at describing why a game is good so im sorry.

I personally believe the life system is very effective for average and good players. Every hour you get a life, so if your playing a normal game, you shouldn't run out of lives. Newer players may struggle with the learning curve as they most likely will not live a full game their first few games, so I believe that new players should be immune to the lives system for a certain amount of time, to ge...

Some lives are full of griefers and slackers.

Oth ers are just the best and the team comes together to make a town succeed.

Thos e lives spent foraging near starvation and bring home 200 rabbits to clothe the children. You come back and everybody clothed, rabbits are now pies and the compost smells from a mile away.

Some lives are blessed.

Great game. 100% worth the money. Best civilization building game out there, for the PC at least. Also I love the new point system, I'm not sure how it works, other then you get more points when you live for longer. If your looking to buy it, please do! It will be money well spent.

While ohol is not a perfect game it is an ever evolving game. Jason is taking steps in the correct direction to try to fix some of the underlying problems with the game and that's great.

its a fun, simple game, with a complex strategy
lot of drama, lot of bad players, lot of griefers and murderers, so will annoy you a few times but can be so fun, very original concept and jason works on it frequently, each update changes everything but its in a good direction

Great game to play, every life is unique! Sometimes you play with annoying children who wants to stab everyone.. but most of the times you will play with nice people who want to play the game and can learn new people things.

The game is finally adding more game-play content, I approve of more domestic animals, and the surgery addition is also welcome. I still feel like the game needs more structures and a better way to locate nearby towns (bell towers are a joke) maybe establish trade and migration like the good old days where you had neighboring villages, and carpenters who built roads connecting them.

LAG LAG LAG (553.0 hours on record)

Since we get more players in this game, the game become lag as hell. Optimization didnt not work, I found this game great but I cant play laggy as hell or can take to be disconnected because servers can handle so much ppl. I dont think it will improve, if you are thinking about buying this game, get a time machine and buy it three months ago, when it worked great. Its a shame such good game has th...

I cannot recommend this game to parents with impressionable children, which is basically all of them.

When I bought this game, it was promoted as a group activity for progressing thru stages of civilization while trying to stave off or outrun concurrent waves of resource shortfalls. I enjoyed this aspect of the game.

However , the developer has released a number of updates that incre...

Update: New Brothers
July 19, 2019

I'm back from a very interesting and refreshing trip to Taiwan. Taking time off---and not working on the game at all for a week---is a really important thing to do from time to time.

The variety among the red-headed a black characters has been a little thin for a while. This update adds two more male characters for each, taking the total up to 22 playable characters, currently in four different skin tones (12 males and 10 females) The red-heads and black characters are still missing one female each (to bring them up to six each), but those will be added in the near future.

User Story: The Tale of Scott Silverthorn, by MaggieMurdoch
October 30, 2018

this is a tale of one of my last lives, sometimes I live very mundane and uneventful lives but other times I find one that stays with me and makes me think about it...This was one of those lives.

I was born a baby boy to a woman named Samantha Silverthorn in a tiny settlement, as I was born my older brother Lason was visiting, my mother had six children before me and had one after me, surviving to adulthood there was only me, my big brother Lason, my big sister Freyja and and my younger sister Liza. When I was born my mother gave me a single snake skin boot.
